This is a super easy one, and an art activity that will surely keep any toddler busy for a while. To prep, I gathered two colors of paint: red and yellow and put a dollop of each on a small paper plate. My son went into his play corner after I instructed him to get a truck and a car (knowing that these wheels would be different). He grabbed a monster truck and a small wooden car. I let him independently drive his cars through the paint and on the pieces of paper underneath. Then, as he began to mix colors, I prompted him. Here are some great kicking off questions...
What color are the red and yellow making when they mix together?
What other things are orange?
Look at the truck's tracks and the car's. Are they different or the same?
Which tracks are bigger/smaller?
Can you make a long/short line?
What do you see if you drive fast/slow?
